Box.32<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background of the program<\/strong><br>Ethiopia&#8217;s agricultural is remaining the pillar of the country\u2019s economy dominated by smallholder farmers that contribute over 80% of employment, 44% of GDP and 50%&nbsp;of export revenue (FAO, 2025). Holding the keys to a affluent future, it faces an existential threat from climate change caused &nbsp;frequent droughts, erratic rainfall, and rising temperatures directly undermine production systems, exacerbating food insecurity and rural poverty results a serous illegal migration (World Bank, 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Outcome Based Education (BEO) B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics is a forward-thinking program designed to address the evolving needs of Ethiopia\u2019s agricultural sector by integrating agricultural technologies and innovations with indigenous knowledge. By blending theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the program aims to produce graduates who can contribute to sustainable agricultural development, economic growth, and food security in Ethiopia and beyond. The program is lunched in the academic year of 2010 EC upon the establishments of Mekdela Amaba University as fourth Generation University to equipping students with the analytical, quantitative, and practical skills necessary to address complex challenges in agriculture, food systems, and natural resource management.
