One of the 28 departments opened by Mekdela Amba University is the Department of Sports Science. Due to the lack of a Sports Science Center at the university, students hade gone to other universities to study practical courses. The idea behind establishing this Sports Science Center is to address this problem.
According to Mr. Gashaw Berhanu, Head of the Department of Sports Science at the university, the establishment of the Sports Science Center will enable students to become competent by providing practical training, and will also be of great importance for the health of the university staff and local residents.
Teacher Ghashaw explained that students have started learning sports science subjects such as basic gymnastics, apparatus gymnastics, racket sports, massage and therapeutic, physical fitness, ethics and self-defense, and cultural games at the gym. He added that the gym service will be officially launched soon.
